What’s included

The full retreat, with doors opened wider

Private and Blood Moon benefits carry forward. Black Label adds personalized case preparation, more time with the film crew and experiences shaped around your group.

Private + Blood Moon, included

  • Three-night hotel stay: choose the Cary House Hotel or Georgetown Hotel & Saloon; up to three dual-occupancy rooms are included.
  • Hosted paranormal investigations with a private host, professional equipment and orientation.
  • A custom dossier covering the hotel and surrounding area, with local history, reported activity, maps and key points of interest.
  • Curated professional retreat photos and a $100-per-guest-per-day dining credit at participating businesses for meals, breakfast included.
  • Blood Moon film package: four hours of filming focused on your group’s investigation, with time for quick interviews; a custom 30–45-minute documentary and digital evidence vault.
  • Blood Moon’s second approved investigation and hosted Gold Country outing carry forward, with Black Label allowing more chauffeured time across the retreat.

Black Label adds

  • Private, specially arranged access: investigate at select Gold Country locations, including places not generally open to the public. Specific venues and approved areas are confirmed with your proposal.
  • Priority room requests: choose a suite, or a room with a history of reported experiences, at your selected hotel, subject to availability and hotel approval.
  • 20–24 hours of chauffeured transportation scheduled across the four-day retreat around your group’s itinerary.
  • Each guest receives a $1,500 Experience Allowance to shape their stay. Choose from curated additions such as a private chef dinner, a chauffeured arrival, a Gold Country wine tasting, an in-suite massage, or special access experiences. Our concierge arranges every detail. The allowance applies to experiences booked through Moonlight Tours, has no cash value, and is non-transferable.
  • Two hosted off-site experiences and an early- or late-night investigation, planned with your host.
  • Planning call and location case briefings: meet with your host before arrival and receive a concise briefing for each approved investigation location, added to your dossier.
  • Extended film: two more crew hours than Blood Moon, six in total across the retreat. The crew follows your investigations at multiple locations and captures quick interviews for a custom 60–90-minute TV-style documentary.

A retreat shaped around your group

Choose your hotel. Then go deeper into Gold Country.

Settle into a historic hotel, then let your host shape the investigations and experiences around the places your group wants to explore.

Historic Cary House Hotel

Documented history

William Cary built a three-story brick hotel on Main Street in 1857, after fire destroyed his earlier hotel. In 1915 John Raffetto razed it and rebuilt it, so the building you stay in today dates from 1915.

Folklore

The hotel’s best-known story is about a family said to have died of influenza in Room 212. The details change with each telling, and no record of that family has been found.

Reported experiences

Guests and staff have described cold spots, the sound of a crying baby, footsteps, and doors and an elevator that seem to move on their own.

Georgetown Hotel & Saloon

A historic foothill hotel and saloon with a distinctly Old West character, in Georgetown. Your dossier covers its history and the experiences people have reported there.

How we tell the stories

Gold Country has real history and a lot of legend. We keep them apart, and we never present legend as fact.

Documented history

What the records show: newspapers, deeds, census and burial records.

Folklore

Stories that have been told for generations. We tell them as stories.

Reported experiences

What guests and staff say they experienced. We share them as their accounts.

Unexplained

Things noticed during an investigation that we can’t explain yet. We share them without claiming a cause.

Bespoke add-ons, quoted on request

Planning something larger? Ask about up to 8 guests, a Cary House floor takeover, or a Georgetown Hotel & Saloon buyout. Each is subject to written property approval and quoted separately in your proposal.

Good to know

What does the price cover?

$25,000 + tax is the total group price for up to 6 guests over 3 nights and 4 days, including three nights in up to three dual-occupancy rooms and $1,500 per guest toward approved experiences. Your written proposal confirms the final inclusions.

Are meals included?

Yes, through your dining credit of $100 per guest, per day at participating businesses. Breakfast is part of that credit. Your $1,500-per-guest experience allowance is separate and covers extras like a private chef, wine tasting or massage.

Is paranormal activity guaranteed?

No. Paranormal activity is never guaranteed, and no specific room is promised. Your host and crew document what your group experiences, and your dossier keeps documented history, folklore and reported experiences clearly apart.

How do we start?

Send a retreat request with your preferred hotel, dates, group size and the locations or experiences that intrigue you. We’ll confirm access and shape your proposal. Sending the form doesn’t reserve a date.

Prices exclude applicable taxes. Experience allocation, venue access, approved areas, room placement, suite availability, transportation schedule, experiences and filming are confirmed in your proposal and subject to availability and property approval. Paranormal activity is never guaranteed.

Jack Devan, owner of Moonlight Tours, leading a night tour on Placerville's Main Street

Hi, I’m Jack Devan, owner of Moonlight Tours. I’ve spent a lot of nights walking these Gold Country streets and listening to their stories: the ones in the records, and the ones people still whisper about. Black Label is my favorite way to share them. It’s slow, personal and private, with a team that respects these historic places as much as you do. Whether you’re a believer, a skeptic or somewhere in between, I’d love to help you plan it. Feel free to give me a call at 530-497-4960. I’ll walk you through it!
